In the “behind the scenes” news, Lurch is operating very nicely, and may be ready to build next week’s schedule all on its own! A complete rewrite of the utility programs that build the schedule (believe me, it needed it) cutting down overall time from 17 minutes to 47 seconds was needed, but it was worth it!
This is the program that analyzes the votes (and other viewer data), chooses the next week’s movies, makes sure they’re uploaded (and will eventually be able to upload them itself!), and makes the daily schedule cards.
When we’re done, it will even slot the “fillers” that run between movies.
Future expansion will include changing the “fillers” out daily, and possibly giving us more than 6 movies a week. (Note: this won’t be this year, but early next year.)
In related news, the website is finally shaping up (and making me very proud) under LaDonna Murphy’s talented hands into something quite useful and pleasing, and we SHOULD have the web version running fully before Christmas! THEN we start work on the mobile version (tricky, but it can be done)!
Between running on new hardware, and a little reprogramming, OtherWorlds TV is functional, efficient, and looking very beautiful, and I am proud. But we couldn’t do it without all of you, our Lurkers!
We’ve got a couple of questions for you coming up in the next day or two, so keep an eye out for them, and as always…
