Episode 05 - Coffee and Catastrophe
Olivia had a theory: if she drank enough coffee, she could become part of the building. Not metaphorically. Literally.
The mug in her hand (her fourth) read: “World’s Okayest Receptionist.” It had been left in the break room cabinet next to a chipped Gremlins cup and a wine glass etched with “I Survived the Null Loop 2016.”
Across from her, Bernard floated three feet off the floor. His tentacles lazily spiraled outward as he sipped a suspiciously opaque beverage from a paper straw. His eyes blinked at irregular intervals.
“So,” Olivia said, swirling her coffee like it might reveal the secrets of the station, “just so I’m clear—when I answer the phone and they ask for a show that doesn’t exist, I should… pretend it does?”
Bernard considered this. “Only on Tuesdays.”
“…Right.”
“Unless it’s a third quarter broadcast year. Then we use the spectral schedule.”
Olivia stared. “I’m going to need more coffee.”
