Episode 52 - Please Remain Calm (Reception is Still Open)
The moment the door clicked shut behind the “guest,” Olivia exhaled softly and opened the bottom drawer.
Inside: One pristine, unused human-first-aid kit. One gently used not-for-humans first aid kit. A roll of caution tape. A bottle of antiseptic labeled “For Mild Reality Shear.”
She set the human kit on the desk.
Just in case.
Down the hall, she could hear Charles’ bright, over-enunciated “And this hallway only loops when you walk through it with uncertainty in your heart!”
Miss LaDonna was speaking in the even tones of a diplomat delivering a TED Talk on how to file paperwork that hadn’t been invented yet.
Bernard, no doubt, was simply present.
Nothing disorients like a being who doesn't blink and knows where your birth certificate used to be.
Olivia answered two calls during the tour.
One from a listener asking whether the station would be airing "The Crawling Mist" again soon. (She routed them to Bernard’s voicemail.)
One from the Farm. The scarecrows were reporting calm wind conditions and a low chance of metaphysical trespassing.
She jotted it down in the logbook under: “Mostly Harmless.”
The monitor on her desk flickered.
6B again.
The cartoon dog glanced at the door where the FCC agent had gone.
Then winked.
Olivia smirked.
“They’ll either come back enlightened or escorted,” she muttered.
And began labeling the bandages with categories like:
Bruised Ego
Reality Displacement (Minor)
Exposure to Concepts Outside Known Regulation
She paused.
Then added a sticker that read: “Visitor Approved.”
